When I dine, I like to maximize my dining dollars and get the biggest bang for my buck. And when I’m in a coastal town, I love being able to be close to the water. So here are my suggestions for the best restaurants with a view in the Central Coast, Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo area.

Great for groups so good after a wedding. No outdoor seating however. It’s romantic and classy. Great view. There is a wait, but you can get drinks and sit on their balcony overlooking the ocean. The food, and service was wonderful.. Great place to take your loved ones. Beautiful location and a great time.

The Sea Venture

Has outdoor seating and is great for groups They are known for nice bartenders, good food, live entertainment, great sunsets and a big patio.  If you don’t mind They use bacon in their oysters Rockefeller and those of you who like bacon knows that it makes everything better.

Steamers of Pismo Beach

This place has the best steamed clams and clam chowder I’ve ever had, however I do love Brophy Bros on the pier in Santa Barbara. Eat them and dream. This place is quiet and romantic. The views are incredible.

Yanagi Sushi and Grill

This place rocks. This is the  Sushi Palace up on the hill. If you’ve driven the coast you’ve seen this place and you are probably curious about “Yanagi” while passing by. Stop in for lunch or dinner.  Try their Albacore Delight and the Fire Cracker Roll. They are among the best of the House Special Rolls, made for Man Mouths not little Bird Mouths.If you like edamame, try theirs. It’s outstanding.  And the window view? An awesome sight from on top.

When you go into the grove either by the main road or through the campground, just look up in the trees and you’ll see literally thousands of clusters of these black and orange incredible little creature. When you look up and see them, it appears as if the leaves in these eucalyptus tress are golden.

Monarchs are in the milkweed family of butterflies and are the best known of all the North American butterflies. However, they are now found in Australia, New Zealand, Canary Islands, sometimes  in Western Europe and rarely in the UK. The little guys have a wingspan of 3 ½ – 4 inches and the females have darker veins on their wings, with the males having a spot in center of each hind wing from which the pheromones are released. The males are also a big bigger.

What is also amazing is that these little creatures migrate southward and northward from Canada to Mexico and Baja California, which can span the life of 3 or 4 generations.

What’s nice about these Grove talks is that staff of knowledgeable docents who give talks daily from 10am – 4 pm. Parking is free as is admission. You can contact the visitor information center at 800. 443. 7778

There is great cycling in this area of the country with many bike paths. You can rent a bike or bring your own and after looking at the butterflies, or flutterbies, as I prefer to call them, you can head over to the Splash Cafe and have some of the best clam chowder ever. The are at

It is recommended that you call the San Luis Obispo County Clerk’s Office to see if they
suggest setting an appointment.
ID and San Luis Obispo County Residency Requirements:

San Luis Obispo County requires a picture id such as Drivers License or other valid
identification. Some counties recommend bringing certified copies of your birth
certificates.
You do not have to be a resident of San Luis Obispo County to apply for a marriage
license there.

Information you need to know before you start filling out the marriage license
application:

Where each of your parents were born (city and state)
The names of your parents including your mother’s maiden name
Confidential License in San Luis Obispo County:

If you have lived together as a married couple, you can apply for a confidential license.
This means there is no public record of your marriage.
Previous Marriages:

You must show proof of divorce, death or annulment. You need to bring a copy of your
final divorce decree if you have divorced within the 90 days through past year (varies by
county).
San Luis Obispo County Waiting Period:

There is no waiting period in San Luis Obispo County.
Fees:

It will cost you $95 for a public license and $95 for a confidential license.
Other Tests:

San Luis Obispo County doesn’t require blood tests.

If either the bride or groom is under 18, at least one of the minor’s parents, or legal
guardian, must appear with the couple. Certified copies of birth certificates are required.
The couple must also schedule an appointment with a counselor and then appear
before a California superior court

Gay couples can still apply for a Domestic Partnership Certificate.

Clergy, Justices, Judges, Magistrates, Marriage Commissioners (current or retired) can
perform the ceremonies.

License is valid for 90 days.
